This course is completely online allowing you the flexibility to study around your work/life commitments.
You will be required to complete assignments and reference theoretical knowledge using the Harvard Referencing Style.
Teaching Hours
You will be required to log a total of 150 teaching hours, at least 100 hours must be in your subject area. Additionally, you must gain experience of remote teaching. A minimum of 20 hours of remote synchronous (i.e. live) delivery should be included, alongside a minimum of 80 hours face to face delivery. Footstep Training provides full guidance and templates making it easy to log and track your teaching hours.
Observations
You will be required to complete 10 observations, the majority of which should be to a group of at least 10 Learners.
All observations should be at least 45 minutes each.
Up to two observations may be of live remote delivery. Additionally, one other session may be observed remotely (i.e. the observer not present) but appropriate arrangements must be made for prompt feedback and discussion
The observations should be conducted by the provider Tutor and/or the subject specialist/placement Mentor.
Footstep Training will guide you through the process of observations throughout your Level 5 Diploma in Teaching, including observation templates and offer the support you need to progress in your observed teaching sessions.
Oral discussion
This is the final assessment and an opportunity to show off all your hard work. You will participate in a 30 minute oral discussion relating to any aspect of professional practice that your tutor/mentor selects. The topic will be communicated to you prior to the discussion and full support provided to ensure you pass with flying colours.

Is this course for you?
If you are self-motivated, able to complete self-study effectively, and able to write assignments at an academic level, then this course is ideal for you.
At present, the registration period which is set by the Awarding Organisation for this qualification is 2 years (24 months). You will have 2 years to complete the qualification. However, we expect learners to complete the qualification within 12-18 months on average. You can re-register as long as your registration is still “live”. You will be sent an invoice for the fee which is set by Footstep Training. If you fail to pay within 14 days or your course expires you will need to pay the full course fee again which will be the current price on the website.
