This is the latest “in service” teaching qualification and replaced CTLLS on 1st October 2013.

Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training meets the government requirements for teachers, tutors, and trainers in the Associate Teacher role as a suitable qualification.

The Associate Teacher role is defined as having fewer teaching responsibilities than the full teaching role. However, the quality of teaching is expected to be of an equally high standard.

Completing the Level 4 Certificate is a good way to progress to the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training which will give you Qualified Teacher Learning Skills Status (QTLS) which is seen as the equivalent to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), although as of September 2012 it is still offered by the IfL but no longer required.

This course is online and we advise that you purchase some books to aid you with your studies. A suggested reading is provided with the suggested books for this course.

You will be required to complete assignments and reference theoretical knowledge using the Harvard Referencing Style. You need to log 30 hours of teaching and be observed 3 times covering 3 hours. The observations can be completed by a competent person, we will provide guidance for you to do this. Our flexible approach enables you to complete the qualification completely in your own time.

This qualification consists of a minimum of 6 units and a maximum of 8 depending on which pathway you take.

At present, the registration period which is set by the Awarding Organisation for this qualification is 2 years. You will have 2 years to complete the qualification, however, on average it takes 9-12 months which is what we would expect with our support. If you need longer than this, you can pay to re-register, this in most cases is the registration fee and any additional assessment fees required such as if evidence is older than 3 years (2 in some cases) which is not deemed to be current. It will not be the whole cost of the qualification again as we want to support you to achieve your qualification.
